Following onestar press’ inaugural tray project by Lawrence Weiner, Rirkrit Tiravanija’s FEAR EATS THE SOUL draws his text from the title of Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Ali: Fear Eats the Soul, a film which still resonates today with its vibrant questions of race and class raised in 1970s Germany. The 4-worded phrase used by Rirkrit literally “serves” as a cornerstone of his artistic practice, using appropriated language to underscore his exploration between art and food, and now perfectly encapsulated in a fiberglass tray produced by Cambro, Huntington Beach, CA U.S.A
