Udomsak Krisanamis experiences from the differences in his constant commuting between worlds and cultures, he gains impetus and drive for his painterly collages.

He used the English language, which was initially difficult to understand, as it appeared to him: as an abstract medium. On the canvases we find strips of text and letters from newspapers, which - painted over with ink - are transformed into ornamental patterns. The numerous inner fields of letters and numbers appear as points of light and highlights in the midst of variously interwoven areas of color.

Whatever is available can find its way into the compositions. In this way, glass noodles and sheets are used as design elements and image carriers. The titles of the pictures are also chosen seemingly casually and not without mischief. They come from music and movie titles or other comments picked up in everyday life: Shirley Temple (1996), Je voudrais une chambre (1998), I'll do for you anything you want (2002) introduce the everyday lived world into a tactile and dazzling abstraction.

The deliberate repetition and sobriety of the process he uses in the careful repainting of his text and noodle collages flirts more with craftsmanship than with “high art”. In their diverse layering and intricacy, the works clearly demonstrate craftsmanship and labor-intensive artistic practice. The closer you get to the works, the more an inner pictorial cosmos unfolds that moves you to marvel. Enigmatic beauty, time-consuming, almost obsessive artistic processes are characteristics that many contemporary painters would resist. Krisanamis, however, celebrates them.

For the first time in Europe, the work of Udomsak Krisanamis has been presented in a comprehensive form. The uniqueness of his work and its combination of visual signs from different cultures becomes visible. A productive and at the same time crazy path between western abstraction and oriental decoration.
