Winner of the Golden Leopard at the 2017 Locarno International Film Festival, this “unflinching, challenging, provocative film” (Jessica Kiang, Variety) presents the final days of a woman dying of Alzheimer’s in a small fishing village. Patient, observant, but never intrusive, Wang’s camera calmly observes Mrs. Fang as she lies bedridden, surrounded by family and friends, “sinking slowly,” as one of them observes, “like a boat on a river.”
