The exhibition in Remscheid, Wolfgang Tillmans' hometown, offers a new perspective on his work. It brings together photography and video while also marking the reopening of the museum, whose restoration the artist closely followed.

The installation captures traces of this architectural history and connects them to the artist's roots: although based in London and later in Berlin, Tillmans has remained deeply attached to his hometown. His works interact with the building's architecture and the local industrial history, creating a unique experience where past, present, and future merge into a new narrative.

This exhibition also establishes a connection with the permanent collection of the Deutsches Werkzeugmuseum, where one can discover, in the section dedicated to the history of commerce, the travel case of F. C. Tillmans, the artist's grandfather, as well as documents that testify to the family's commercial activities in Central America during the 1920s and 1930s.
