Hassan Khan presents his installation Live Ammunition! at the Frac Franche-Comté in Besançon. The artist has, since the 90s, developed a conceptual work through a variety of mediums: sculpture, photography, video, sound, performance, text, and in-situ installation.
Consistently adopting new forms, his work addresses with discreet irony the power relations which define the political and social context of the contemporary world. Inspired and observant of the everyday, each work unfolds a brief and incisive fiction. These allegories come to us as would a sharp mirror, as the reflect of our era’s global anxiety.
Live Ammunition! is a multi-channel composition in which claps, recorded from previous sessions with percussionists, follow the perpetually changing polyphonic rhythm. The unsettling result makes us ponder: are we immersed in an ovation? A hailstorm? Or are we in the presence of the distance sound of a machine-gun?
