In celebration of its 45th anniversary and the 5th anniversary of its renovation, the Fukuoka Art Museum will unveil a new iteration of Mona Hatoum’s iconic work + and -.
Hatoum first exhibited this kinetic sculpture in Fukuoka in 1994. It represents the interplay between two opposite forces: positive and negative, making and unmaking, building and destroying in a continuous cycle.
This new version is a permanent installation, which is integrated within the fabric of the museum. The work will be unveiled on September 14. The artist will give an illustrated talk at 2pm.
