Roberto Cuoghi, 2025.
Galerie Chantal Crousel congratulates Roberto Cuoghi on being awarded the XXVII edition of the Pino Pascali Prize.
Established in 1969 by Pascali’s parents after the artist’s sudden death in 1968, and relaunched in 1998, the Prize has honored leading figures in contemporary art.
Born in Modena in 1973, Roberto Cuoghi has established a prominent position on the international stage. His career milestones include his participation in the 57th Venice Biennale in the Italian Pavilion Il Mondo Magico, curated by Cecilia Alemani, with the work Imitazione di Cristo – Il Mondo Magico (alongside Giorgio Andreotta Calò and Adelita Husni-Bey), as well as major exhibitions at the Fridericianum in Kassel and the retrospective Perla Pollina 1996–2016, presented between the Centre d’Art Contemporain in Geneva and Museo Madre in Naples.
Cuoghi’s practice is unique: uninfluenced by direct models, it resists classification within any single artistic genre. His works of the past two decades are united by a rigorous focus on process: he invents new techniques and methodologies for each project, achieving absolute creative control and the highest degree of craftsmanship. Each new body of work is radically distinct from the previous one, as the artist moves seamlessly across mediums, mastering form without being defined by a single style. “One of the most radical artists of his generation,” writes curator Alessandro Rabottini, “Cuoghi defies easy categorization.”
On this occasion, Roberto Cuoghi’s solo exhibition at the Fondazione Pino Pascali will open on October 18, 2025. The show will present his research and the themes that have defined his work over the past decade.
