Inspired by the rich collection of historical instruments at Vienna’s Musikverein, Tarek Atoui has created, specifically for Souffle Continu (Continous Breath), two new exhibits from his extraordinary musical instruments. They combine a special musicality with a fascinating tactile sensation and sculptural qualities.
On May 20, May 24, June 3 at 8pm, and June 10 at 4pm.
Additional to the concerts, three musically differently oriented workshops offer the opportunity to make music together and to playfully explore the instruments specially developed and built by the artist. They explore how sound behaves at the boundaries of the audible, the resonances it triggers in its surroundings, and how the very act of listening actually works.
On May 16, May 30, June 6 at 5pm.
As part of the Guided by Artists programme, artists of the Wiener Festwochen invite visitors to join them in very personal guided tours. During Tarek Atoui's guided tour in his company, visitors have the opportunity to admire selected exhibits from a fascinating collection not usually accessible to the public.
On June 2 at 4pm.
