As part of the 2024 edition of the Diriyah Biennale, Tarek Atoui will give a performance as part of his Al Qabali research. This project focuses on the collection and experimentation of sounds associated with an Arabic musical sensibility known as tarab, which describes the listener's emotional and ecstatic state.

Some of these sounds are composed of previous research conducted by the artist at the AMAR Foundation in Lebanon, and trace the socially-defined network of musical circulation. Additionally, he collects new recordings in tribes and villages along a route from the Atlas Mountains of North Africa to the Persian Gulf.
