Moshe Ninio

Born in Tel Aviv in 1953.
Lives and works in Tel Aviv and Paris.

As a major artist of the Israeli art scene, Moshe Ninio explores in his installations the nature of the image, this in and through the various apparatuses of art. With discretion, his poor images, latent, seized from the most trivial banality, define themselves in relationship to other works. The meaning of the image in the work of Ninio is complex and it is probably the iconic status of the image that prevails.

His work has been shown in international solo exhibitions in museums such as the Musée d’art et d’Histoire du Judaïsme, Paris (2016); Santa Monica Museum of Art (2015); Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Moshe Ninio as guest curator (2002); S.M.A.K., Gent (1998); FRAC Languedoc-Roussillon, Montpellier (1996); The Israel Museum, Jerusalem (1990), among others.

Moshe Ninio was also featured in several international group shows at the Israel Museum (2014); Villa Emerige, Paris (2012); Dvir Gallery, Tel Aviv (2011); The Petach Tikva Museum of Art (2010); CCA, Tel Aviv (2009); Centre Pompidou — Musée National d´Art Moderne, Paris (2008); Haifa Museum of Art, Haifa (2008); International Biennial of contemporary Art, Jerusalem (2004); Mary Faouzi Gallery, Jaffa (2000); I.C.A, Boston (1994); Museum of the 20th Century Art,Vienna (1993).
