After a first appearance at the Collection Lambert during the 2020 edition of the Festival Viva Villa! Mimosa Echard returns to Avignon in the summer of 2021 for a solo show. She will take over the 600 square metres of the first floor of the Hotel de Montfaucon for a brand-new site-specific installation.

The exhibition Sluggy Me explores the flow of images and their dissolution, their ingestion. So many processes that lead her recent works to approach a complete visual abstraction. In this series of paintings, the commercial images (collected from a reality TV show called Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and organic materials (berry juice, gardenia seeds, natural dyes) intertwine with each other revealing the underlying violence of bodies and their capitalization. The geometric composition of the paintings is reminiscent of the omnipresence of screens, as if they had been put to sleep. A succession of lacquers and layers of fabrics, some naturally tinted, makes each painting bleeding and exuding. Mimosa Echard’s works refer to the image that slides behind the eye, in this organic, neurological zone, where it dissolves.
