The Stiftung Schweizerische Plastikausstellung SPA Biel (Swiss sculpture foundation) has taken on many different exhibition shapes and forms since 1954. Its 13th edition is presented by Thomas Hirschhorn in the public space of the city of Biel. The Robert Walser-Sculpture, Thomas Hirschhorn, Biel-Bienne 2019, is curated by Kathleen Bühler (Kunstmuseum Bern / Contemporary Art).

For a period of 12 weeks the Robert Walser-Sculpture project transforms the city of Biel’s Bahnhofplatz into a venue for meeting and discovering Robert Walser. Readings, walks, studios, children’s programs, lectures, forum, theater, library, exhibition, Robert Walser Zentrum “affiliates”, and many other events bring the audience face to face with Robert Walser, everyday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Some 200 of Biel's inhabitants —associations, institutions, artists, writers, and experts— are invited to participate.

To document this unique and utopian program, we invite you to support the project, by making an open donation by e-mail with your contact information and the total amount of your contribution (you will be registered to the crowdfunding and will receive an invoice — with donation receipt — after the end of the campaign), by pre-ordering the catalog of the project (edited by Kathleen Bühler and Schweizer Plastikausstellung Biel with texts by Thomas Hirschhorn, Kathleen Bühler, Ann Cotten, Julia Gelshorn, José Gsell, Wiebke Hahn, Gabriela Pereira, Jean-Pierre Rochat, Armin Senser and Marcus Steinweg — 55 €), or by buying one of the ten editions produced by Thomas Hirschhorn on this occasion (collage, assemblage of photographs and books by Robert Walser, 102,5 x 72,3 x 3,4 cm with frame — 18 500 €).
