Galerie Chantal Crousel is pleased to present the video HERE EV’R NOW 2 by David Douard at Nanjing Art Fair International.

Language is the very basis of David Douard’s work. The texts, videos, and images he collects on the Internet are manipulated, transformed into become a vital flow. For HERE EV’R NOW, he captured on an image bank platform a bee image in very high definition representing nature. 

The bee is talking to us through a sentence taken from the movie My Own Private Idaho by Gus Van Sant. The movie is about a young man whose narcolepsy disease, makes him constantly fall asleep and forget what happened once he wakes up. The young boy embodied by the bee asks "Why did we wake up on this deserted road? Where are you running to? We are all stuck here".

The piece shows a corrupted nature that constantly haunts our subconscious. The artist chose to project the movie on office curtains to symbolize how nature takes over on humanly corrupted and organized spaces.
