Variants by artist Pierre Huyghe is an entity that perceives, generates and modifies.
It is simultaneously an island and what that island could be in an alternate reality. The island has been scanned to become the environment of a live simulation in
which an artificial neural network generates unpredictable mutations.
As contingent events occur in the island, in chemical or biological activity, the generated mutations change behavior in real time.
Occasionally, some mutations exit the simulation and manifest physically, as artefacts of fiction; contaminating and transforming the
actual with a possibility of itself.
