Winner of the Julio González Prize 2020, Mona Hatoum's exhibition at IVAM (April 16, 2021 - April 16, 2021) gathers a selection of sculptures, large-scale installations and works on paper created mostly in the last two decades.
Mona Hatoum is interested in creating formally simple works that nevertheless impact viewers on an emotional and psychological level. Her work is intentionally created with paradoxical layers of meaning that produce ambiguity and ambivalence to allow several possible and contradictory readings.

This catalogue presents installation views of her IVAM exhibition, alongside essays by Nuria Enguita (director of IVAM), José Miguel G. Cortés (curator of the exhibition and former director of IVAM), Estella de Diego (writer, curator, member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid) and Nancy Spector (curator of exhibitions at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York from 1989 to 2020).
