Darat al-Funun hosts the first solo exhibition in the region of Mona Hatoum's work following a one-month residency. The exhibition will include works produced by Hatoum in Amman, in cooperation with local craftsmen, as well as works from the Khalid Shoman Collection, among others.

"During her month-long residency at Darat al Funun, Mona Hatoum collaborated with the Iraq al Amir Women Cooperative Society, to produce two new ceramic pieces entitled Still Life and Witness. With attentive care, she worked with Jordanian craftswomen who struggle to earn a living in this small village on the outskirts of Amman. The end result is magnificent creations signed by the first non-european visual artist to receive, in 2004, the Sonning Prize, a biannual award given by the University of Copenhagen to individuals who contribute to 'advancement of European civilization'."
